These water soluble polymers are used in drinking water production, wastewater treatment, enhanced oil recovery, mining, paper, agriculture, textile and cosmetics. SNF has customers in over 130 countries.
The SNF Group comprises subsidiaries and joint ventures in more than 30 countries and operates 23 production sites in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.
A leader in manufacturing and processing water-soluble polymers, SNF has developed a range of more than 1000 products that help to preserve our natural resources, encourage recycling and improve efficiencies of industrial processes. Our polymers have several complementary functionalities: flocculation, which enables solids to be separated from liquids, viscosification and friction reduction. Our products are used in all the fields in which water is present: drinking water production, wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, oil and gas extraction, mining, agriculture, and the manufacture of paper, textiles and cosmetic preparations.
Ever since SNF was first established, we have been seeking to offer our clients the broadest range of polymers and related services in the market. We also provide supply, quality and price levels that enable them to meet their performance targets. In order to achieve this, we have developed a long-term strategy focused on innovation and investment. SNF maintains a high level of R&D expenditure alongside constant investment in improving and expanding its production sites.
SNF now accounts for almost half of global polyacrylamide production, which underscores the effectiveness of this innovation and investment policy.
1968Streichenberger switches the business of Oziol in Saint-Étienne from making coal briquettes to making flocculants for water treatment.FLOcculants + StreichenbERGER = FLOERGER. A brand name is created.
1978SNF is founded. The company is purchased several times, first by BP France, then by WR Grace. After 8 other unsuccessful projects, the activity is bought out by the management: René Pich, Technical Manager and Hubert Issaurat, Sales Manager. The company employs 25 people and sales reach 2 MFRF for 200 tpa.
1987SNF purchases the industrial site Chemtall in Riceboro, Georgia, USA. Since then it has become SNF’s largest production site.
1993SNF contracts with the Chinese company Daqing Oil Fields to construct the largest polymer plant in the world. An upstream integration is achieved with the construction of NCF in Riceboro, USA to manufacture cationic monomers.
1999Enzymatic production of acrylamide starts in Andrézieux and production of cationic monomers starts in Saint-Avold.
2006SNF’s new president is Pascal Remy. Land is purchased in Vizag, India.
2007SNF signs a major EOR contract with PDO in the Sultanate of Oman.
2011The construction of the new production site of Plaquemine, Louisiana begins. It is dedicated to the EOR industry. New lines are constructed in China and France.
2015Start of the construction in our new production sites in Saratov, Russia, Billingham, UK and Camaçari, Brasil.
